Originally dating from the 16th century you will find the Old Rectory down a quiet country lane nestling at the foot of an old iron age fort. It is just 2 miles from the county town of Taunton and 10 minutes drive from the first declared area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Quantock Hills.
Accommodation consists of three good sized bedrooms, one of which can be utilised as a twin and a separate sitting room with television and, in the winter, an open fire. All bedrooms are en-suite, two with shower and one with bath/electric shower. Each room overlooks a large rear garden and beyond to open farmland.
Each bedroom has a selection of books and guests are welcome to use the downstairs library. A range of ordnance survey maps of the local area is available to borrow or buy.
Taunton is an historic town with a museum within Taunton Castle, a lovely cricket ground, a theatre, multiplex cinema and extensive shopping facilities including the owners bookshop, Brendon Books situated in historic Bath Place (www.brendonbooks.co.uk).
Beyond the Quantock Hills there is the spectacular scenery and coastline of the Brendon Hills and Exmoor National Park. To the south and west there are the Brendon Hills and the sandy beaches of the South Devon and Dorset coastline.
