Torquay, South Devonshire coastline

By Simon - Added 26th of January 2007

Torquay and the South Devonshire coastline has much to offer. The combinations of sandy beaches, idillic countryside and beautiful Devon villages offer visitors a varied choice. For those who enjoy good food, there are some seriously good places to eat. Probably the best pub/restaurant in Torquay is The Hole in the Wall, built in 1540. Good steaks and fresh fish from the Bay, plus the famous Brixham mussels are just some of the treats.

There's live 'sixties music'; nothing loud, just right in the cosy bar. The Number Seven bistro is arguably the best place in the Bay for fish. Interesting towns include the 'Bohemian' Totnes. A wonderful place with lots of small shops and cafes and restaurants. Dartmouth, home to the Navel College and fine, fortified harbour is also an interesting place to visit. The Cherub Inn is the place to eat! And also the New Angel, of TV chef fame.
